Skyborne: Genesis

Role: Lead UX Designer
Skills: Research, Wireframing, Prototyping, Visual Design, Implementation
Platform: Web

Overview:

As the first installment, Skyborne: Genesis is a browser-based blockchain staking game within the Skyborne Legacy universe. In Genesis, you will explore a vast world map made up of various regions and islands, each with their own stories to discover. Stake heroes with unique traits on quests and earn valuable rewards that you can bring with you to Skyborne Legacy.

Challenges:

Most of the team comes from the free to play space, so web3 was a learning experience for many. It was a unique experience as everyone was learning together to see what would be the best approach during the development process. The market was rapidly changing and we needed to adapt accordingly.

Milestones:

The Genesis launch will be spread amongst several important dates. Working with the Art Director and Marketing Team, we decided on the central theme to be an overshadowing figure carry throughout the launch campaign.

Release 1.0: The initial Mint Pass where users can claim their NFT heroes and tokens.

Release 2.0: The second collection set is released.

Release 3.0: The launch of the game portal where users can stake their NFTs to earn progress and additional rewards.

Visual Design:

I worked with the Art Director and Art Team to create functional designs that evoke a sense of magic without taking away from the main focus of the NFTs and collectibles.

I established mockups and guides to share with frontend web developers to promote a dynamic and performant build that dynamically scales to support various browsers and dimensions.

We vetted the progress and visual designs frequently by sharing the latest updates with invested users on discord, twitch streams and twitter spaces.
